LATISSE® (bimatoprost ophthalmic solution 0.03%) is a prescription medication indicated to treat hypotrichosis of the eyelashes by increasing eyelash growth, including length, thickness, and darkness. Treatment requires evaluation and a prescription from a licensed healthcare provider.
Individual results vary, and not everyone is a candidate.
LATISSE® is an FDA-approved prescription treatment used to help improve eyelash prominence in people with inadequate or sparse eyelashes (hypotrichosis). It is applied topically to the upper eyelid margin using sterile, single-use applicators as directed by a healthcare provider.
LATISSE® is believed to support eyelash growth by extending the growth (anagen) phase of the eyelash hair cycle and increasing the number of hairs that grow. Response differs by person, and results are not guaranteed.
You may be a candidate for LATISSE® if you:
Have sparse or inadequate eyelashes (hypotrichosis)
Want a prescription option for improving eyelash prominence
Can follow proper application and hygiene instructions
Do not have contraindications based on your medical and eye health history
A licensed provider will review your medical history, eye history, current medications, and any contact lens use to determine if LATISSE® is appropriate.
Consultation: A provider reviews your goals and medical/eye history.
Prescription (if appropriate): LATISSE® is prescribed and instructions are provided.
Application: Applied once daily to the upper eyelid margin only, using sterile applicators.
Monitoring: Follow-up may be recommended to assess tolerance and response.
If you stop using LATISSE®, eyelash prominence may gradually return toward baseline over time.
LATISSE® may cause side effects. Some reported side effects include:
Itching or redness of the eyes
Dry eyes or eye irritation
Skin darkening around the application area (may be reversible)
Increased brown pigmentation of the colored part of the eye (iris), which may be permanent
Eyelid redness
Hair growth can occur in unintended areas if the solution repeatedly touches other skin areas. Use only as directed and blot excess solution.
Patients should contact their provider promptly if they experience significant eye irritation, changes in vision, or other concerning symptoms.
LATISSE® is prescription-only and is not appropriate for everyone.
Use only on the upper eyelid margin. Do not apply to the lower lid.
Remove contact lenses before applying; lenses may be reinserted as directed (commonly after 15 minutes).
Inform your provider about any history of eye pressure issues, glaucoma, eye infections, eye surgery, or use of eye medications.
